Christmas and other stuff

Now that none of our kids believe in Santa, we aren't doing St. Nick and Santa this year. It's exciting because it helps take the pressure off of "doing" Santa. While we love giving the kids gifts and actually just gifts in general, I certainly don't like the commercialism that this season unfortunately becomes. Jesus. If it wasn't for the birth of the Christ child we would not even celebrate this holiday! How soon we forget! How soon we make it something it's not!

So what we are doing this year is getting each of the kids that one thing we know they really, really want. That special thing that any other time of the year we normally wouldn't buy or spend money on, but will be a wonderfully cherished gift. For the oldest two we've already determined what that is, for the younger two we are still in discussion...lol. The other thing we are doing is actually something really fun that my friends Dave and Sue did years ago with their daughters. It sounded so fun I had to copy!! (Thanks Sue for letting me steal your idea!) I wrote our own 12 Days of Christmas poem with fun little gifts and treats--that our kids love-as "my parent's gave to me" Each morning we'll have the next day's gift for them with the next part of the poem. After it's done-I'll share the poem.

As a side note, I found out today that two of my friends at work are pregnant! Well, actually for one-it's his wife that's pregnant! It's so exciting because both sets of parents just LOVE kids and will be awesome parents! I also have a cousin that's pregnant and since babies seem to run in threes in my family...I am sure that there will be more. Luckily, since I no longer have the "parts"...lol...I don't have to worry about it being ME! Until my kids are much older and we possibly become foster parents--we are done with babies and toddlers in this house :)

Well, off to write some more Christmas cards. I think I'm already to 60, but my lifelong friend Jeri already got hers out so now the pressure is on ;) (just teasing Jer)

Have a great day tomorrow--I have choir practise and a Bethlehem Marketplace meeting and missionary friends from Africa to dinner on Friday--so I probably won't be around until Sat. Um...not like that matters :) Nite!
